The Many Benefits of Landscaping

Tuesday, March 11th, 2014

Research has shown that there are many benefits to planting and landscaping.  The American Nursery & Landscape Association (ANLA) recently detailed some of these on their website.  They include:

* Landscaping can add between 7% and 15% to a home’s value.

* Landscaping can bring a recovery value of 100 to 200% at selling time.  Kitchen remodeling brings a 75 to 125% recovery rate, bathroom remodeling a 20 to 120% recovery rate, and the addition of a swimming pool a 20 to 50% recovery rate.

* Landscaping can reduce air conditioning costs by up to 50% by shading the windows and walls of a home.

* Trees can reduce bothersome noise by up to 50% and can mask unwanted noises with pleasant sounds.

* Trees can reduce temperatures by as much as 9 degrees Fahrenheit.

* By spending 5% of the value of your home on the installation of a quality low-maintenance landscape, you could boost the resale by 15%, earning back 150% or more of your landscaping investment.

* 95% of the members of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers say landscaping adds to property value, while 99% agree landscaping increases speed of home sales.

* People heal faster in a hospital when they can see landscaping, and children focus better in school when they are around plants.

These are just a few of the many known benefits of landscaping.  So why are you waiting – - give us a call at the Nursery (920-788-1051), or better yet, stop in and allow us to help you create not only financial value but also “The Yard of Your Dreams”.  Be it one tree or a full front landscape, now is the time to start!

Independent We Stand!

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Did you know that by supporting your local independent businesses (your neighbors), you are really supporting your whole community and enabling it to become stronger and more vibrant because your money stays here.  A new business group called Independent We Stand was formed to tout just that.  Independent We Stand is a national movement that brings together independent business owners in educating their communities about the benefits of shopping at local independent retailers.  Among the key facts they point out, which are all backed by solid research, are:

*  When you spend $100 at an independent business, $68 returns to the local community.  Spend that same amount at a national chain and it drops to $43.

*  Small businesses account for 75% of all new jobs.

*  Locally owned businesses reinvest in the local economy at a 60% higher rate than chains and internet retailers.

*  Locally owned and operated businesses creat higher-paying jobs for you and your neighbors.

*  More of your tax dollars are reinvested in your community to fund local schools, hire more police officers and improve roads.

We at Van Zeeland Nursery & Landscape appreciate the business that many of you have brought us over the coarse of our 79 years in business; encourage you to continue shopping at local independent businesses like ours; and will continue to aim to provide answers for all your future plant and landscaping needs.
